Well I haven't been paying too much attention to the recent health care debate, but I thought you guys might find this thread interesting.

Is there something missing here, Wierdo? I don't see what there is to find interesting. Did you mean to post a link or something?

No I wasn't, I just was hoping that we could bring out different views on it and discuss them.

I'll add something anyways. This is from Obama's website:

QUOTE
Reform the health care system:
We will take steps to reform our system by expanding coverage, improving quality, lowering costs, honoring patient choice and holding insurance companies accountable.

Promote scientific and technological advancements:
We are committed to putting responsible science and technological innovation ahead of ideology when it comes to medical research. We believe in the enormous capacity of American ingenuity to find cures for diseases that continue to extinguish too many lives and cause too much suffering every year.

Improve preventative care:
In order to keep our people healthy and provide more efficient treatment we need to promote smart preventative care, like cancer screenings and better nutrition, and make critical investments in electronic health records, technology that can reduce errors while ensuring privacy and saving lives.

I didn't see where that really said anything though about actual action...

I remember reading somewhere that the United States medicare program will completely run out of funding somewhere in the range of 2015, and that social security will die out even faster. Think it was 2012... So, there's this talk about making our health care system better, but soon there will be no money for it. Will be even sooner with these discussed changes. Health care is obviously a great thing, but honestly most people can't afford it.

And at the mean time the government is spending
unimaginable amounts of money on stuff that only the people that work there will ever see or the occasional passer by in an airplane, I'm working at a government construction project that wont let cameras be brought on the job.
Yea theres security issues but the main reason is that they don't want the public to know how much of there money is being spent on lavish architecture and unnecessary crap that only the people that work there will ever see. I don't need to say anything else, these statements say it all and your imagination cant even come close to what is really being spent there. These government buildings don't need to have the money spent on them that is being spent, its an outrage and something should be done about it. These buildings need to be no more then square box's , yes make them bullet and bomb proof and secure but spare the tax payers the injustice of having there money spent on unnecessary design and wastefull engineering that they will never see that is unless your one of the people that happen to be working there good luck with your background check. Just thought I would add this to topic cause it is just one more way that the government is waisting our money.
